Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a speech writer. Feminist Frequency is a site with video and an online blog on the representation of women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency explores how women are represented in popular culture. Aiming to dispel the myths of women that exist in pop culture, she also works on issues related the gender-specific harassment of women as well as other classes of people on the internet. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in the field of political and social thought at York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has given talks at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, university student who has been fascinated by issues that concern gender and feminism for quite a long period of. The ambitious lady planned to launch a web series that would examine the gender roles in video games and found herself the target of an online harassment campaign. The attack did not stop her, rather it strengthened the determination of an activist for women in media. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades for her numerous prominent contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for several years and is the founder of Feminist Frequency. This non-profit educational organization studies women's roles in pop culture narratives.
